OIS is an non-profit organization formed to promote the global goal of ‘open innovation’ . It does so in several ways:

  • It provides a ‘trusted community’ to facilitate licensing and cross licensing activity within a legal framework

  • It provides members with a system for managing and licensing their intellectual assets

  • It provides highly secure storage of intellectual assets and disaster recovery

  • It provides trusted third party attestation as to time of invention

  • It provides a ‘community’ for innovation executives to share best practices

  • It provides aggregate statistics, benchmarks and metrics

Members can be individuals, companies, universities or even nations
